What lies behind us and lies before us are tiny compared to what lies within us

Handmade Happy Bird Day Card

Happy Bird Day

I made this super cute Birthday card for one of my coworkers. Her favorite colors are brown and pink, so I wanted to feature those colors her card.

Card base: 5 1/2″ x 10″ piece of pale pink cardstock folded in half to make a 5 1/2″ square

Cardbase: 5″ square Bazzill Basics Texture cardstock in bitter chocolate

Diecut: The birdie is cut from the Birthday Bash Cartridge at 2 1/2″ and embellished with a teal Sakura Gel pen and a pink pearl.

To make this card I started with my base layer, and then adheared the pink happy brithday cardstock with my ATG. Then I adhered the super cute pink and brown houndstooth. Then I taped my brown ribbon down. Then adhered on care base to the pale pink card base. After assembling my cute little bird with my Zig two way glue pen, I used some pop dots to place him on card. For the sentiment,  I used some sticko letter stickers to spell out “Happy Bird Day.” Now time to embellish. I used my gel pen to do some stitching on base layer. Then I layer on a 3″ x 5″ piece of pattern paper from the Sweet Nectar stack . The paper was a pale blue and cream  background with big red flowers in the corners. I used a center piece without any flowers. Before attaching the background layer to the card, I added some green ribbon and a bow. The tulip garden was cut from the freshly picked cartridge. I used distress ink on both layers of the wooden flower pot. After attaching the flower bed, I adhered my bee from the Give a Hoot Cartridge with some pop dots.  For my sentiment I used the Niki Riki thickers to spell out Bee, then I wrote out the rest of my sentiment with a felt tip marker. Hedgehog Happy Birthday Card

Hedgehog Happy Birthday Card

Handmade Hedgehog Birthday CardI just got the Cricut Birthday Bash Cartridge. I thought this cartridge would be useful, because I make a lot of Birthday Cards. I was really excited to get this cartridge because each button has so many features.

Page from the Birthday Bash Cartridge

Each button has:

  • a Cute multi-layer Birthday Image

  • a card or tag shape, plus coordinating card layer

  • a two layered Birthday phrase

  • Two characters plus shadows, so you can write your own sentiments.

The card is from page 43, and I cut it at 5 1/2″ in craft cardstock. I cut  the scalloped layer at the same size in red card stock, and then used my Happy Birthday embossing folder. (the embossing didn’t show in picture) I cut the fat oval shaped from the tag on page 70. I cut it at 5″ in a piece of designer paper from the Sweet Nectar stack from K & Company. I cut the hedgehog at 4″ I think. It cut him out several times trying to find the right size. After assembling my hedgehog, I embellished the hat and blowout with white gel pen. Everything is recollection cardstock except the top layer, which is Bazzill Bitter Chocolate. After adhering the circle layers, I attached the hedgehog with some pop dots. Then I punched some holes in the top and tied a bow.

My dad requested I make him some greeting cards, so this is one of the ones I made for him. It is a simple card, but wasn’t simple to make. I started with A2 size card in craft card stock. Then I layered a piece of patterned paper from the ancestry.com stack on top a piece of Bazzill Bitter Chocolate. Then I placed eyelets in each corner, and attached s0me brown ribbon before I taped the layer on the card base. After it was attached, I tied a ribbon bow. The books are from the Cricut Hello Kitty Greetings Cartridge. I cut the apple off the top of the books with my paper trimmer. The based of the books is brown recollections paper that I inked up with Victorian Velvet and Vintage Photo. The brown  books are Bazzill Bitter Chocolate and Brown. The red book is recollectionccards stock that I inked up with Victorian Velvet and Vintage Photo.  After the books were assembled, I used pop dots to attach them to the card base.  I place a black pearl in the book corner. The sentiment was stamped using Martha Stewart Clear Stamps Sans Serif Typeface.  I just got these stamps, and love how easily and clearly they stamp. I stamped ‘read’ on a piece of card stock that punched out from the ancestry.com embossed frames. I attached the sentiment with two brads that I colored black. I really love how this card came out, and that I was able to make a masculine card with such a girly cartridge.

Hello, Teacher!

Hello, Teacher!

Handmade Back to School CardThis super cute back to school card is a 5 x 5 square. The base is recollection craft card stock. The background paper is from  DCWV The Green Stack and has really cool texture. I used a piece of brown paper from The Green Stack for the first layer of the apple. The ruler was cut from a piece of card stock from the K & Company Paper Stack Sweet Nectar.  I don’t like any of shades of green that Recollection makes, so I stock up on variety of Bazzill green shades. I used lime crush for the apple leaves and the bottom green layer of the inch worm. The top layer of the inch worm is a sheet of green from the DCWV Blossom Stack. Both images are from the Create a Critter Cartridge. The apple is from page 25 and the inch worm is on page 65.  I hope you like this card and it inspires you to make a back to school card.

The koala from Create a Critter is adorable. If he wasn’t made of paper I would hug him. I’m not sure where I got the patterned paper from for the Koala. I am trying to use up my scraps. The scallop was cut from create a critter and the paper is from Garden Party Stack. I pop doted up the blue circle and the koala. Hope you enjoy this card.
