Tom Wolfe Quote Card

The Only Real Possession you’ll ever have is your Character ~ Tom Wolfe

I wanted the main element of this card to be the quote. I started by sketching out how I wanted the quote to go on some scratch paper. Then I placed down my thickers to spell out my sentiment. I used a ruler to keep the letters straight. I alternating my white gel pen and thickers to write out the sentiment. I cut out two circle borders in different sizes using the Give a Hoot cartridge. I layered the the circle borders underneath the rectangle borders to give a scallop edge. After laying down the main borders, I embellished with hearts, butterflies, flowers, and buttons. Hope you enjoy this cards, and thanks for reading.

Handmade Heart Inside Circle Card

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. —Martin Luther King Jr., civil rights leader

This pretty card was inspired by a sketch on Iwona Palamountain’s blog. All the beautiful paper from this card are from the K & Company Geo Floral stack. Both the circle and the scallop circle are cut from Birthday Bash. The Heart and scalop edge are cut from Give a Hoot. The scallop edge is actually just a circle border layered underneath the green rectangle layer. For the tag I cut out a rectangle. Than chopped off one corner with my paper trimmer. Then I glued the corner to opposite side and then trimmed it off. Then I added a eyelet for the hole. I wrote the sentiment with a black sharpie pen. Thanks for visiting.

I am still working on cards for my aunt with her favorite quotes. Last week with my 50% of coupon, I got a new paper stack, K & Company Geo Floral Specialty stack. I think this stack might be exclusive to Michael’s, because I can’t find it anywhere else. I am so in love this stack. It has vibrant colors, beautiful floral patterns, and fun geometric patterns. All the buttons,  I used in these cards are thrift store finds. I hope everyone enjoys these new cards.

Cute Owl Card with Henry David Thoreau Quote

Owl Card

For this card all the pattern paper is from the Recollections Signature Graceful Paper Pad. I really love the patterns. I got this paper pad, because I loved the ledger patterns, glitter accents, beautiful colors, and distressed touches. I’ve already made several beautiful cards with this paper pad. I am working on several cards with quotes, so the ledger patterns are the prefect background for quotes. My one complaint about this card stock is it is much thinner than I am use to. I had a hard time getting the setting right on my cricut, to get clean cuts. I ended up using low pressure, low speed, blade at one, and used 4 multicut to get good cuts. To make this card, I started with a kraft A2 card base. I cut a circle border from Give a Hoot at 1 inch, and glued that down. Then I attached a thin yellow strip of paper to the cicle border and made some dash lines. I cut the retangle charm at 1 1/2 inches a couple of times. Then I glued those layers together to make a thicker tag. I wrote my sentiment with a brown Zig Calligraphy Pen,

Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.
~Henry David Thoreau

Then I used some hemp to attached the tag to the top portion of the card. The cute little owl was cut at 3 inches and then attached with pop dots. For finishing touches, I punched a couple flowers and attached them with brads and then corner rounded the edges. I hope you like this card.

Handmade Tree Tire Swing Card

I made two different tree cards today. For the first tree card, I used the give a hoot cartridge. The tree proportion were kind of an accident. I forget to turn the fit length off and ended up with a huge tree and an even bigger branch.  I liked the way it turned out, so I ended up using the tree anyways. To get a similar look, I would suggest cutting the tree at 5 3/4 inches and the branch at 6 1/4 inches. After assembling my tree, I adhered it to my A2 Kraft card base with some of the tree hanging off. Then I trimmed off the excess paper. I cut the circle outline for the tire swing from Plantin schoolbook at 1 1/2 inches. I cut 4 circles and glued them together to get a thicker tire. Then a used my gray gel pen to make tire treads. Before attaching the tire, I stamped and embossed my sentiment with white embossing powder.  To finish the tire swing, I used some hemp as a rope and used a silver brad to attach the tire swing. To complete the card, I corner round the edges and did a little doodling on inside.

Handmade Embossed Tree Card

For my second tree card, I cut a circle from Birthday Bash using real dial size at 3 inches in kraft cardstock and a scallop circle in 3 3/4 inches. I have cut the scallop and circle from the Birthday Bash cartridge so many times, I don’t even need to look at the book to remember the buttons. I stamped a Martha Stewart Tree Stamp with green pigment ink on my circle. Then I sprinkled clear embossing powder, and used my heat tool. I think the tree turned out beautiful. I adhered the tree circle to my scallop circle and tied some brown ribbon around my card base. Then I used ATG to adhere the circle. I then used my antique gold embossing powder to emboss my sentiment. For the finishing touch, I tied a bow with the ribbon. I hope everyone enjoys these two tree cards.

Handmade Flowers and Butterfly Card

To make this cute card, I started with a Kraft A2 card base. I used clear embossing powder to emboss butterflies on a 1 1/2 x 5 inch piece of purple patterned paper. The clear butterflies add a subtle interest to the card. Afterwards I adhered the strip with my ATG, and tied some hemp around the card and secured it with a wooden button. I cut two a layer butterfly from the Give a Hoot cartridge at 3 inches. I adhered the butterfly with one pop dot. Scrapes of patterned paper were used to punch out daisies. I adhered the daises with a dot of glue in middle of each flower. I made a wavy pattern with the flowers.  Then I added two brads to the centers of two daises. Then I added my sentiment with white embossing powder and corner rounded the edges. Enjoy this pretty card.
